Present Continuous Tense definisi fungsi contoh soal dan kalimat positive negatif dan tanya

Present continuous tense digunakan untuk menjelaskan suatu kegiatan yang sedang berlangsung pada saat pembicara mengucapkannya. Fungsinya adalah sebagai berikut:

  1. Untuk menerangkan bahwa seseorang sedang melakukan sesuatu saat dibicarakan

Contoh:

  • Sarah is changing her clothes right now.
  • Her boyfriend is waiting for her.
  • We are learning the progressive tense in English.
  • The students are playing football now.
  • I am cooking fried rice.
  1. Untuk menjelaskan sebuah peristiwa/ keadaan yang sedang berlangsung.

Contoh:

  • It is snowing at the moment.
  • The economy is growing at an exponential rate.
  • The children are sleeping, so please be quiet !
  • Kalimat Positif

Kalimat positif present continuous tense dibentuk dengan menambahkan to be dan akhiran -ing pada kata kerjanya. 

Rumus: Subject + am/is/are + verb 1+ ing

Contoh kalimat lainnya:

I am playing at the moment

You are calling her

We are having dinner together

They are watching movie right now

He is sleeping on sofa

She is cooking dinner

It is moving

  • Kalimat Negatif

Kalimat negatif Present continuous tense dibentuk dengan menambahkan not setelah to be (am, is, are).

Rumus: Subject + am/is/are + not + verb 1+ ing

Contoh kalimat lainnya:

I am not going anywhere right now.

You are not helping

We are not studying.

They are not watching together

He is not sleeping on bed

She is not cooking breakfast

It is not moving

The clock is not ticking

  • Kalimat Tanya

Kalimat tanya Present continuous tense dibentuk dengan memindahkan to be nya ke depan kalimat dan tambahkan tanda tanya (question mark) di akhir kalimat. 

Rumus: Am/is/are+ subject + verb 1 + ing
