Question Words (Membuat Kalimat Tanya 5W 1H)
Hai pembaca English specialist, pada artikel ini aku mau jelasin cara membuat kalimat tanya dalam bahasa inggris, baik pertanyaan singkat ataupun kalimat tanya terbuka yang menggunakan 5w 1h (question words). Supaya paham baca dengan teliti ya.
Question words atau kata yang digunakan dalam pertanyaan 5w 1h adalah what, which, when, where, why, who dan how. Untuk lebih lengkapnya baca penjelasan berikut ya.
- What (Apa)
Bisa digunakan untuk menanyakan subjek dan objek. Perlu diperhatikan ketika menanyakan subjek, what langsung diikuti kata kerja. Sedangkan jika yang ditanyakan adalah objek, maka what diikuti kata kerja bantu seperti do, does, did, is, are, have dan lain sebagainya.
Contoh:
Kalimat tanya what yang menanyakan subjek:
what made him so happy today?
(Apa yang membuatnya begitu bahagia hari ini?)
Kalimat tanya what yang menanyakan objek:
What did she buy at the carnaval?
(Apa yang dia beli di carnaval?)
- Which (yang mana)
Which digunakan untuk menanyakan pilihan.
Contoh:
Which shoes do you like more, the white or the blue ones?
Sepatu yang mana yang kamu lebih suka, yang putih atau yang biru?
- When (kapan)
Digunakan untuk menanyakan waktu.
Contoh:
when do you usually go jogging?
(Kapan biasanya kamu pergi jogging?)
- Where (di mana)
Digunakan untuk menanyakan tempat.
Contoh:
Where did you put the key?
Di mana kamu menaruh kuncinya?
- Why (kenapa)
Digunakan untuk menanyakan alasan.
Contoh:
Why do you want to visit him?
Kenapa kamu mau mengunjungi dia?
- Who (Siapa)
Who digunakan untuk menanyakan orang, baik sebagai subjek maupun objek. Perlu diingat ketika who digunakan untuk menanyakan subjek maka kata who langsung diikuti kata kerja. Sedangkan jika ingin menanyakan objek maka kata who diikuti oleh kata kerja bantu.
Contoh:
Kalimat tanya who yang menanyakan subjek:
Who took my pen?
(Siapa yang ambil pulenku?)
Kalimat tanya who yang menanyakan objek:
Who do you go with?
(Dengan siapa kamu pergi?)
- How
Digunakan untuk menanyakan cara melakukan sesuatu.
How do you go to office every day?
(Bagaimana kamu pergi ke kantor setiap hari?)
Membuat pertanyaan singkat (Yes/no question)
Kalimat tanya singkat atau yes/no question dibentuk dengan memindahkan atau menambahkan kata kerja bantu ke awal kalimat. Kata kerja bantu di sini tergantung tenses yang di gunakan bisa berupa to be (am, is, are, was, were, been), do, does, did, has, have, dan had. Sebaiknya kamu pahami dulu tenses yang akan kamu gunakan sebelum menulis kalimat pertanyaan. Tapi untuk lebih mudahnya sudah aku buatkan rangkumannya berdasarkan tenses.

Future perfect tense | Budi will have arrived tomorrow by the time the party starts. | Will Budi have arrived tomorrow by the time the party starts? |
