Passive voice
Membuat kalimat passive voice dilakukan dengan menukar posisi subjek dan objek dan menambahkan kata “by”. Passive voice biasanya digunakan jika ingin menekankan tindakan dari pada pelakunya.
Membentuk passive voice berdasarkan tenses
- Simple present tense
Rumus: Subject + am/is/are + verb 3
Active: Charles washes car every day.
Passive: Car is washed by Charles every day.
- Present continuous tense
Rumus: Subject + am/is/are + being + verb 3
Active: Charles is washing car now.
Passive: Car is being washed by Charles now.
- Simple past tense
Rumus: Subject + was/were + verb 3
Active: Charles washed car yesterday.
Passive: Car was washed by Charles yesterday.
- Past continuous tense
Rumus: Subject + was/were + being + verb 3
Active: Charles was washing car at 7 p.m. last night.
Passive: Car was being washed by Charles at 7 p.m. last night.
- Present perfect tense
Rumus: Subject + has/have + been + verb 3
Active: Charles has washed his car.
Passive: Car has been washed by Charles.
- Present perfect continuous tense
Rumus: Subject + has/have + been + being + verb 3
Active: Charles has been washing his car for one hour.
Passive: Car has been being washed by Charles for one hour.
- Past perfect tense
Rumus: Subject + had + been + verb 3
Active: Charles had washed car before his father came.
Passive: Car had been washed by Charles before his father came.
- Simple future tense
Rumus: Subject + will + be + verb 3
Active: Charles will wash his car in the afternoon.
Passive: Car will be washed by Charles this afternoon.
- Future continuous tense
Rumus: Subject + will + be + being + verb 3
Active: Charles will be washing his car at this hour tomorrow.
Passive: Car will be washed by Charles at this hour tomorrow.
- Future perfect tense
Rumus: Subject + will + have + been + verb 3
Active: Charles will have washed car by this evening
Passive: Car will have been washed by Charles by evening.
Passive voice menggunakan modal can, could, would, must, may, might sama dengan pola rumus will di simple future.
Rumus: Subject + modal + be + verb 3
Active: We must inform the supervisor now.
Passive: The supervisor must be informed now.
