Some digunakan dalam kalimat positive dan tanya di depan kata countable noun dan uncountable noun.
Contoh:
Kalimat positive dengan countable noun: He eats some apples.
Kalimat positif dengan uncountable noun: She drinks some milk.
Kalimat tanya dengan countable noun: Do you have some ice cubes?
Kalimat tanya dengan uncountable: Would you like some tea?
Any
Any dipakai dalam kalimat negatif di depan kata countable noun dan uncountable noun.
Contoh:
Kalimat negatif dengan countable noun: I don’t have any comic books.
Kalimat negatif dengan uncountable noun: He did not drink any milk this morning.
Kalimat tanya dengan countable noun: Are there any students in the classroom?
Kalimat tanya dengan uncountable noun: Is there any milk in the fridge?
Much
Much digunakan dalam kalimat positif, negatif dan tanya di depan kata uncountable noun.
Contoh:
Kalimat positif: We still have much time.
Kalimat negatif: I don’t have much time.
Kalimat tanya: Do you have much time?
Many
Many digunakan dalam kalimat positif, negatif dan negatif di depan kata countable noun.
Contoh:
Kalimat Positif: I have many friends.
Kalimat negatif: I don’t have many true friends.
Kalimat tanya: Do you have many true friends?
Lots of dan a lot of
Lots of dan a lot of artinya “banyak”. Kata ini lebih sering digunakan dalam situasi tidak formal. Kata lots of dan a lot of digunakan dalam kalimat positif baik sebelum kata benda countable ataupun uncountable.
Contoh:
Lots of: He has lots of friends.
A lot of: I have a lot of money.
Few dan a few
Few dan a few sama-sama artinya sedikit dan sama-sama dipasangkan dengan kata benda countable, meskipun demikian memiliki makna yang sedikit berbeda. Few diasosikan dengan makna negatif, sedangkan a few diasosiasikan dengan makna positif.
Contoh:
Few: I have few friends. (Saya tidak memiliki banyak teman.)
A few: I have a few friends. (Saya masih memiliki beberapa teman meskipun sedikit.)
Little dan a little
Little dan a little mirip dengan few dan a few. Hanya saja little dan a little dipakai sebelum kata benda uncountable. Little memiliki makna negatif sedangkan a little bermakna positif.
Contoh:
Little: I have little time. (Aku tidak punya banyak waktu.)
A little: I have a little time. (Aku ada waktu walaupun hanya sebentar.)
